Hair Product Reviews of Sulfate-Free Brands
Sulfate-free hair product brands are growing in popularity as sulfates, chlorides and parabens are considered the root to many hair and scalp problems.
The use of SLS – sodium lauryl sulfate and paraben-rich preservatives have been shown to accelerate the fading of color treatments, leave hair vulnerable to heat and chemical damage, and be the lead suspect in the cause of such scalp problems such as dandruff, scalp psoriasis, dermatitis and excessive oiliness.
While the blame is certainly up for discussion, many consumers have found that using sulfate free brands have helped their scalp heal and become more healthy. This could be the result of allergies to the chemicals, active ingredients, or the use of other styling aids.
Now this is significant section of this specific matter. Either way, savvy consumers and expert stylists are increasingly searching our non-sulfate brands – especially if they’re coloring their hair or routinely get perm, straightening, or chemical treatments.
Look for the top reviews to guide your decision
While reviews are pretty thin related to non-SLS and paraben products, most reviewers and analyst agree there is a wide difference in the effectiveness, fragrance, and tactile pleasure among the few competing brands that have made towards the top.
Why is this?
Cleanse – YouTube: How it works: Nioxin Cleansers help to remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residues from the scalp skin and hair.
Primarily because sulfate-free products have had a hard time finding adequate replacements for SLS. While sodium lauryl sulfate has been an easy replacement, its “good sister” sodium laureth sulfate has been much harder. The largest problem been effective foaming and cleansing and acceptance by the consumer.
What do we mean by this? Well, SLS is a surfactant cleanser responsible for the suds, bubbles and foam. This “foaming action” dissolves oil, dislodges dirt, and cleans the hair day. Reviewers found the lack of early SLS replacements did not offer the foaming level consumers wanted or would be effective for deep cleaning – no matter how safe or gentle.
Brands such as sfree, Pureology, Kenra and Biolage have all developed very effective products over the last 12-18 months. There replacement surfactants work very well and they’ve branched including clarifying and hydrating products as well.

Is nioxin good or bad for you to take for hair growth? You don't take Nioxin you put it on your hair. It’s a complete system from shampoo to gel. It’ll work on some people and not on others. It really depends on the reason for your hair loss. You have to use it everyday because once you stop your hair will go back to the way it was. It can also dry out some hair types. It can be expensive but worth it if it works for you. Wal-Mart has a Equate brand called Hair Re-growth for women that’s way cheaper to try. Just be careful because it says it can change the color and texture of your hair but not by much.
Product is hard to find locally. I find it helps protect my colored hair from damaging blow drying and curling iron.(Nioxin Thermal Bliss)It arrived in four days after order. Well packaged. I would buy from Deal Seekers again.
Has anyone tried nioxin or rogain for hair loss? Does it really work like they say.? Yes, Rogaine really works if you follow the instructions. But it's not easy:) Read this. Before use, wash your scalp with a mild shampoo. Your hair and scalp must be dry before applying Rogaine Solution. Wash your hands after applying Rogaine Solution. Wait approximately four hours after application before going swimming, and don’t allow your scalp to get wet from the rain after applying the solution. Allow the solution to remain on the scalp for at least four hours before washing. Wait approximately four hours after application before going swimming, and don’t allow your scalp to get wet from the rain after applying the solution. Wait until the solution is dry before using other hair care products.
After using a clariol hair color, my hair became very brittle and sheaded so very bad. A friend mentioned Nioxin therefore I purchased it and after 2 to 3 weeks I saw a great difference. Months later my hair was full and very healthy. I stopped using it and my hair went back to it is orginal state meaning my hair thinned out as it was when I started using it. I have since began using it again so please, whatever you do do not stop using it, it is addictive.
Nioxin really does work! I’ve a client who's baldness is severe. If you use just the shampoo and conditioner but not the treatments you won't get the results for restoring. If you use the treatments you’ll get results. Folicle booster does work! It's one of the treatments in their line. Report Abuse

What nioxin does is make your hair look fuller-it kinda makes it blow up like a balloon with what you have. For some people thats all they need but its not for hair loss. As far as rogaine goes…im not sure. I guess it wouldnt hurt to try it. With anything though dont expect results overnight. It may take a couple of days or weeks.
