What is the cause to extreme hair loss? Within the past two weeks, I've lost hair at an abnormal rate. Just scratching my head would make me lose hair. What is the likely cause? I'm still maintaining a normal diet and my shampoo has always been the same. Should I consult a doctor? I'm getting quite worried but I don't know what to do. Please help. Thank you in advance!

Severe Hair Loss: Causes and Prevention? I’m experiencing severe hair fall for almost a couple of months now, I’m confused what caused it. Every time that i take a shower (or when my hair is wet) i can see strands of my hair on the floor,on my hands, back, almost every where! Maybe around 70-100 hair strands per shower, and that doesn't include when comb my hair. Each time that i swipe my fingers on it, even it’s dry, i can still get 10s of strands. When i wake up in the morning, you can see a few strands on my pillow :( What really causes hairfall? How can i prevent it? It’s frustrating to think that I’m already losing my hair at the age of 23. Some info regarding my lifestyle: I’m a Mother of 2, youngest is 1year and 2months now. I took contraceptive pills for six months, but i stopped last month. 8-10 hours of sleep, BUT i normally get to bed at two in the morning. (I’VE School at night)

Dandruff / DryHair / Hair fall / Thinning is a problem that’s affecting many people. Some of the reasons include poor diet , Dry scalp , Hard water , Excess fungus called Pityrosporum ovale in the scalp. The MAJOR MISTAKE that people make is that they use SHAMPOOS , Hair Creams.STOP Using shampoos , Hair creams , soap on your head at once. All shampoos and soaps contain SLS Sodium Laureth Sulfate. This is a poison. It irritates the scalp and worsens its condition.SLS Is used in car wash solutions , Dish wash soaps , hand wash etc. How can you use something that’s used to clean car grease on your head ?? SLS strips the scalp of its natural oils causing dry scalp and flaking like dandruff. SLS is also absorbed into the body from skin application.BOTH Sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium laureth sulphate are used as detergents and surfactants. They’re both used widely in hair conditioners and in approximately ninety percent of all shampoos and products that foam. It’s possibly the most dangerous of all ingredients in personal care products. According to the American College of Toxicology both SLE and SLES can cause malformation in children's eyes. Other research has indicated SLS may be damaging to the immune system, especially within the skin. Skin layers may separate and inflame due to its protein denaturing properties. Hair is made of protein and is affected by SLS and SLES leading to poor quality hair, corroded hair follicles and inhibited hair growth, contributing to hair loss. SLS has the potential to cause cataracts through skin absorption, even without direct contact with the eyes. Skin contact can cause SLS to be absorbed into the blood circulation and can then concentrate in organs such as the heart, liver or brain. This is potentially dangerous since SLS is a mutagen, capable of changing the information in the genetic material of your cell and organs.ONCE It has been absorbed, one of the main effects of sodium lauryl sulfate is to mimic the activity of the hormone Oestrogen. This has many health implications and may be responsible for a variety of health problems from PMS and Menopausal symptoms to dropping male fertility and increasing female cancers such as breast cancer. Most Shampoos also contain ” Propylene Glycol “. It’s a cosmetic form of mineral oil found in automatic brake and hydraulic fluid and industrial antifreeze. The Material Safety Data Sheet warns users to avoid skin contact with propylene glycol as this strong skin irritant can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.IN Industry, propylene glycol is used to break down protein and cellular structure (this is also what skin is).IT’S A synthetic petrochemical used as a emulsifying base in creams, shampoos and hair conditioners. On skin, it makes the skin look smoother, but ultimately ages the skin faster Go to a supermarket and check the ingredients of shampoos , soaps , detergents yourself. You’ll find Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Ammonium Laureth sulfate , Propylene Glycol in it. For more info google ” SLS ” I suffered frm dandruff and severe hairfall for four years. I tried all the anti dandruff shampoos in the market. The dandruff cleared for a couple of days after the wash , but it reappeared within 2-3 days again. So I had to shampoo again and again.MY Scalp's condition worsened with every shampoo wash and my hair was falling at an abnormal rate.I Nearly went bald !~ Finally, i found the solution. Mix one teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda with about half a glass of warm/normal water. Dissolve it well and use this solution to clean your scalp for about two mins.THEN, Wash off . Next , dissolve two table spoons of any vinegar ( Preferably Apple Cider Vinegar ) in a big cup of water and use this as the final rinse. Pat dry hair.YOU Can perform this was method every two days until your scalp improves and then do it every week. Massage coconut / olive /almond oil on the scalp for about ten mins every week. This increases blood circulation to the scalp and gives the hair strength and shine Now , The science behind this method. Bicarbonate of soda effectively removes dirt and shampoo chemical residues without drying the scalp. Vinegar closes the cuticles of the hair, Gives hair shine, and changes the PH of the scalp to slightly acidic. Healthy skin is slightly acidic.VINEGAR Is also highly effective in eliminating dandruff and itching.EAT Zinc and Iron tablets My hair has grown back fully after I QUIT shampoos and creams. Its thick, strong and dandruff free.THE Results are mind blowing ! You’ll notice a difference in your condition within one week. Now, Why do all these doctors and media recommend shampoos ? The answer is ” Consumerism ” ..IF Everybody had healthy hair , The multi – billion dollar hair care product industries would run out of business. They need to destroy the health of your scalp with shampoos so that they can sell their anti – hair fall Solutions and so called ” magical ” oils.

Heredity, hormones, stress, diet, illness, poor hair care all are factors in hair loss. Stress, diet and illness are more temporary conditions and usually the hair loss is reversed when the anxiety-producing conditions dissipate, when the diet is improved, when hair care improves and when an illness is cured or gotten under control. Heredity and hormones are different matters, however. Heredity is an irreversible condition. You’re a product of your parents, and hair loss is often inherited. Hormones are tricky, hidden things, however, and they’ve different effects on an individual basis. In a male, testosterone abides abundantly. There are also enzymes working on testosterone which product a substance called DHT. DHT is now known to circulate in the blood and cause other conditions, one of which is the shrinking of hair follicles. When hair follicles shrink enough, they’re unable to produce and push a new hair through. As old hair dies, it’s then not replaced. In women, hormonal imbalances can also cause hair loss. Pregnancy, childbirth and menopause all cause significant hormonal change and imbalances with both physical and mental effects. These changes can also cause hair loss, both temporary and permanent. Hair loss and re-growth products have been around for centuries. In ancient times, a variety of herbal and oil-based remedies were concocted and used by Egyptians, Aztecs, Mayans, and American Indians, all with some degree of effectiveness for some people. Modern medical research has focused on ways to re-open and stimulate dead hair follicles, so that hair growth can re-occur naturally, as well as keep the healthy follicles healthy. Thus, a number of products have become available, both by prescription and over-the-counter. They’re advertised on radio and television and all over the Internet. One need only do a google search on hair loss, and there are literally thousands of sites and products for investigation. One ingredient in many hair loss products is minoxidil. Research studies have shown that in about 80% of the participants, products containing this ingredient are effective in slowing hair loss and, in some, causing re-growth to occur. Probably the most well known is Rogaine, available at any drug store, in varieties for both men and women. Most scientifically-produced products do have separate products for males and females, because, of course, hormones in each are different and of different levels. An additional product containing minoxidil is Provillus, and, again, studies have shown it to be effective. The difference between Provillus and other similar products is that the makes have added Azelaic Acid, an additional ingredient which appears to enhance the follicle repair in both men and women. Provillus has been the subject of many studies, just as the other products, and level of effectiveness may be higher. Provillus is available for both men and women, and the treatment is a combination of a topical liquid applied to the balding areas, as well as a pill or capsule to be taken in conjunction with the liquid. The critical key to effectiveness, according to its makers, is the addition of the azelaic acid, however, the correct amount of this acid is most important piece of this treatment. As with most hair loss products, the makers recommend patience. It may take from 3-6 months for improvement to occur, however, there is a money-back guarantee up to 180 days if one is not satisfied that it’s working for him/her. Medical research is far from finished in its exploration of products which will stop hair loss and promote re-growth of permanent loss. As this research continues, existing producers will undoubtedly alter their products accordingly. Fortunately, a lot of money is being poured into the research, so hair loss sufferers, take heart!

The first possibility that springs to mind is a side effect of the birth control pills since hair loss is mainly hormonal in nature, they could have interfered with your hormonal balance. If not, I would check with a doctor to see if you have either a hyper/hypoactive thyroid since that can also be a major cause or if you've been under any undue stress. Worst comes to worst, it could be genetic in nature since most permanent hair loss is and age is not a factor when it sets in. No matter what the cause, solutions are available to fix it. Medications like Rogaine can help but those take time and many doses to kick in. Bosley instead uses microsurgery to harvest and implant remaining healthy follicles into the affected spots which creates a new hairline immediately that also can regenerate itself indefinitely with little to no trouble if you want a more permanent solution.

Twenty-eight year old female with hair loss issues? I’m a twenty-eight year old female. For the past 2 years I haven’ticed that my hair has become considerably thinner. In the past 6 moths it's gotten quite bad. I’ve been to the GP twice in the past 2 years, have had blood tests and nothing has shown up. Needless to say I’m quite frustrated. I’ve made an appointment with a female GP at the women's health clinic for a week away and was hoping people who have experienced this issue themselves may be able to give me some advice before I go to ask for certain tests ect. It's gotten very thin around the start of my scalp and down the middle of the back of my head. If anyone has any ideas please help me.
